Security Field Engineer

£15.8 - £18.2 per hourEstimated

Are you an experienced engineer with a background in physical security systems, electrical engineering, instrumentation, or control systems? Do you thrive on solving technical challenges and want to play a key role in protecting critical national infrastructure?We're looking for a Security Field Engineer to join a dedicated team responsible for the maintenance, installation, and optimisation of security assets across reservoirs, aqueducts, and water and wastewater treatment sites.This is a fantastic opportunity to work with advanced security technologies in a varied field-based role where no two days are the same.The RoleAs a Security Field Engineer, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of physical security systems across a wide portfolio of operational sites.Working within a fast-paced maintenance environment, you'll ensure security assets remain fully operational, compliant, and effective while supporting operational resilience and minimising environmental impact.From fault diagnosis and repairs to supporting major infrastructure projects, you'll play a vital role in safeguarding critical assets and maintaining operational continuity.What You'll Be DoingIn this role, you will:Deliver efficient maintenance, repair, and installation services for physical security systems.Diagnose faults and restore equipment to optimum performance.Carry out planned preventative and proactive maintenance activities.Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.Maintain accurate asset, performance, and repair records.Identify recurring faults and recommend long-term engineering solutions.Support operational and capital projects to ensure maintainable and reliable asset designs.Manage defined maintenance budgets and resources responsibly.Continuously develop and maintain technical skills and competencies.Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota as required.You'll be comfortable working independently at remote sites as well as collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.This role may not be eligible for sponsorshipWhat We're Looking ForTo be successful in this role you must be a time served apprentice or equivalent, supported with academic qualifications ideally to HNC or minimum ONC equivalent in an Electrical, Instrumentation and/or Control and Automation subject.To be considered for this role you must have:The ability to work in a team but also alone, be resilient, self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and possess the required technical competenceAble and willing to diversify into specialised areas of maintenance, as required, such as but not limited to IP Switching & RoutingDiagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skillsIndustry ExperienceGood working knowledge with hardwired analogue and digital control systems.Working knowledge of telemetry devices and wide area communications basics.Working knowledge of Information Security good practice.Technical skills and competency in the maintenance of physical security installations, including intruder, perimeter & hatch detection, HV fences, access control, and IP CCTV.You'll Also BeSelf-motivated and resilient.Able to work effectively alone and within a anised with strong planning and communication petent in the use of computer-based maintenance systems.Willing to develop expertise in specialist technologies, including IP Switching and Routing.A full UK driving licence is required for this roleWhat We OfferA generous annual leave package of 26 days, which increases to 30 days after four years of service (increases one day per year), in addition to 8 bank holidaysA competitive pension scheme with up to 14% employer contribution, 21% combined, and life coverUp to 7.5% performance-related bonus scheme, as well as recognition awards for outstanding achievementsA comprehensive healthcare plan through our company-funded schemeMyGymDiscounts - gym and wellness benefit that offers up to 25% off on gym memberships and digital fitness subscriptionsBest DoctorsSalary FinanceWealth at Work coursesDeals and discountsEVolve Car SchemeEmployee Assistance PlanMental health first aidersShareBuyMORE Choices flexible benefitsEnhanced parental leave schemesSalary - 51,233Work Type - OnsiteJob Location - Warrington South Wastewater Treatment Works, Bellhouse Lane, Moore, Warrington, Cheshire, WA4 6TSRole Type - PermanentEmployment Type - Full TimeWorking Hours - 37.0 Hours per WeekUnited Utilities’ (UU) purpose is to deliver great water for a stronger, greener and healthier North West of England.
