Job summary
Under the supervision of a registered nurse participate in the development and maintenance of high-quality patient care through involvement in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

Main duties of the job
Participate as a member of the nursing team in delivery, monitoring and evaluating individual evidence-based care/treatment plans, health promotion initiatives, risk issues and collaborate with other disciplines as required. Maintaining patient/client confidentiality.

To provide patient with 25 hours of meaningful activity planner weekly.

Job responsibilities

• Ward representative and link at organisational improvement forums.
• Assist in maintaining general and specific patient observations under the supervision of registered nursing staff..
• Support registered nursing staff recording all relevant information countersigned by registered nurse.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities in relation to patients property and valuables, respecting cultural values.
• Always act in a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and wellbeing of patients.
• Always promote a responsible caring attitude, treating all patients with dignity and respect including awareness and understanding of issues surrounding equality and diversity.
• To co-facilitate therapeutic and ward-based groups and diversional activities as directed by senior nurse / nurse in charge / lead facilitators.
• Clearly document patient activities.
• To provide patients with weekly individual patient activities timetables
• To provide information to be fed back at ward round, by Qualified nurse to evidence offer and uptake of 25 hours meaningful activities per week.
• Participate in the escorting of patients as per hospital procedure.
• To carry out procedural and physical security checks as per local procedure and to report relevant findings to nurse in charge.
• Be involved in the induction support and supervision of healthcare workers.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa. Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker Visa can determine the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship against the relevant criteria here

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
