My client are a leading global entertainment business, delivering world-class content and experiences across multiple platforms and markets. With a dynamic and fast-paced environment, we operate across numerous jurisdictions, managing complex international tax and regulatory challenges.
We are seeking a VAT Lead to take ownership of all international indirect tax advisory matters across our global operations. This is a purely advisory role, with no compliance responsibilities, focused on supporting the business on VAT strategy, cross-border transactions, and high-impact projects.
Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, you will act as the go-to VAT expert, providing strategic guidance on international VAT issues, helping to shape business decisions, and ensuring compliance with evolving tax regulations worldwide.
Advisory & Strategic Leadership:
• Lead on all international VAT and indirect tax matters, advising key stakeholders across the business.
• Provide proactive VAT guidance on commercial initiatives, including digital services, licensing, sponsorships, live events, and content distribution.
• Develop and implement best practices to optimise VAT efficiency and mitigate risks.
Business Partnering:
• Work closely with finance, legal, commercial, and operations teams to ensure VAT considerations are embedded in business decisions.
• Support senior leadership on VAT implications of M&A, new market entries, and global expansion.
• Liaise with external advisors and tax authorities where required.
International Projects:
• Take the lead on complex cross-border VAT structuring and supply chain planning.
• Stay ahead of regulatory changes and advise on their impact, including OECD and EU VAT reforms, digital tax initiatives, and global tax policy developments.
• Manage relationships with external advisors and tax bodies on high-level advisory matters.
About You:
• Proven expertise in international VAT, preferably gained in a multinational business or top-tier advisory firm.
• Strong experience advising on cross-border transactions, digital services, and multi-jurisdictional VAT issues.
• A strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, commercial environment with competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex VAT matters to non-tax specialists.
• Experience in the media, entertainment, or digital industries is a plus but not essential.
