Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a fully remote contract opportunity, offering the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of capital programmes within a highly regulated utility environment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for producing and coordinating high-quality civil engineering designs, ensuring compliance with technical standards, health and safety requirements, environmental considerations, and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce civil engineering designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
* Develop practical and cost-effective solutions that meet project and client requirements.
* Coordinate civil design activities with process, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering disciplines.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
* Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering exercises.
* Support project delivery teams throughout the design lifecycle.
* Contribute technical input to bids, tenders, and project proposals.
* Identify and mitigate design risks while promoting best practices.
* Ensure environmental, sustainability, and health and safety considerations are incorporated into all design activities.
* Maintain accurate and auditable design documentation.

Requirements
Essential

* Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience delivering civil design work within water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, or a related engineering environment.
* Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles and construction methodologies.
* Ability to produce practical, buildable, and efficient engineering solutions.
* Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
* Good understanding of CDM regulations and design risk management.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Proficiency in relevant engineering software and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

* Experience working on UK water industry projects.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
* Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering processes.
* Experience supporting projects through detailed design and construction phases.
