The Role

Working within the North East Inpatient Occupational Therapy Team at Stobhill Hospital, you will support service users to engage in therapeutic activities that promote independence, wellbeing and recovery. As part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Occupational Therapists to deliver person-centred interventions in both hospital and community settings. Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of therapeutic activities and treatment programmes for individuals and groups experiencing mental health difficulties
- Facilitate planned group sessions and one-to-one interventions under the guidance of a registered Occupational Therapist
- Contribute to Occupational Therapy assessments and provide feedback on service users' progress and functioning
- Build positive therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain accurate written and electronic records in line with service and professional standards
- Assist with clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives and the safe maintenance of Occupational Therapy environments
- Support service users within hospital, home and community settings to achieve their Occupational Therapy goals and maximise independence
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Experience of working in a caring, health, social care, community or support environment
- Technical qualification such as City & Guilds, Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- Ability to work independently with individuals and groups while recognising when to seek support and guidance
- Good communication, interpersonal and observation skills with the ability to engage effectively with service users and colleagues
- Competency in one or more leisure, creative or practical activities that can support therapeutic interventions
- Good organisational skills with an understanding of health and safety, risk awareness and professional conduct
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development with a willingness to undertake relevant training and work flexibly to meet service needs
