Domiciliary Care Assistant
Job description
Compass is continuing to grow our team and is looking for compassionate, caring and dedicated individuals to join us as Domiciliary Care Assistants. As a Domiciliary Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality care and support to vulnerable adults within their own homes. You will help service users maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life while supporting them to remain safely in their own homes. The role involves working closely with service users, their families, colleagues and other professionals to ensure that each individual receives person-centred care that meets their assessed needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred personal care, including assistance with washing, bathing, showering, dressing and other personal care needs.
- Support service users with medication in accordance with their care plan and company procedures.
- Assist with meal preparation and support service users with eating and drinking where required.
- Carry out light domestic duties, including cleaning, laundry and shopping where identified within the service user's care plan.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Encourage and promote independence, choice, dignity and respect.
- Support service users to maintain their preferred routines and lifestyle.
- Observe and report any changes in a service user's condition, wellbeing or circumstances.
- Maintain accurate and professional care records and daily documentation.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and company policies and procedures.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection prevention and control procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect service users' personal information.
- Communicate effectively with service users, families, colleagues and other professionals.
- Attend required training and participate in ongoing learning and development.
- Work responsibly both independently and as part of the wider care team.
- Promote a positive, respectful and professional image of Compass at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties relevant to the role.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Full UK Driving licence.
- A genuine desire to support vulnerable adults.
- The ability to listen and respond appropriately to service users' needs.
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- The ability to work independently and use initiative.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to follow care plans, instructions, policies and procedures.
Desirable Skills
- Previous care experience is not essential. Full training will be provided to suitable applicants. Applicants must be willing to learn and demonstrate a genuine commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
