Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We transform lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred support that fosters independence and empowerment.
Our charity was founded in 1988 and we were one of the pioneers of the ‘Care in the Community’ agenda, enabling people to move out of long-stay institutions and live more fulfilling lives.
Since then, we’ve remained leaders in social care, providing bespoke support to thousands across the UK. Today, we support more than 2,600 people and employ 6,600 caring and committed colleagues across England and Scotland.
We have a proud history of breaking boundaries and are always looking for new ways to make a positive difference through bold ideas, innovative projects and impactful partnerships.
Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
- 3 Ladies and 2 gentlemen live in this service,
- Our ages vary from 22 to 68, so we have a variety of different life experience, personalities, routines and habits.
- We have different communication skills/difficulties from people who are nonverbal to people who will talk your ear off. Wendy and timothy are nonverbal so need a little more time for people to communicate with us.
- We love to have a bit of banter and a good laugh.
- Staff are all trained and coached in mandatory care skills such as first aid, fire safety and moving and positioning to name a few.
- Littleburn is a very active service but can also be quiet, as we all enjoy going out but also enjoy relaxing watching films.
- We all enjoy a good cup of tea or coffee.
- We are situated 2 miles from Durham
- We live in Langley moor which is an old pit village in County Durham.
- It is located approximately 2 miles south-west of Durham City.
- Langley Moor is within the civil parish of Brandon and Byshottles which is itself within the City of Durham constituency.
- We have a few local shops including a Tesco, Lidl and a Premier in the village.
- We have a few local takeaways including a Chinese and pizza shop. Which we sometimes use for a treat.
- The village consists of a large park, three pubs, three schools, a church and an industrial estate.
We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life ; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to use, so we look for people with:
- Patience
- Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
- A strong work ethic
- Reliability
- Honesty
- Determination
- A problem solver
- Resilience
