Taking part in a clinical trial can ask a lot of people, especially as trials become more complex. At Little Journey, we’re building Trial Flow, a participant support platform that makes that experience simpler, clearer and more supportive, helping participants and caregivers around the world feel prepared for what comes next. We work collaboratively, challenge our thinking and value people who can turn ideas into action. The Senior Product Content Manager will play a key role in ensuring our content supports the growth of the platform.
The Role
Content is a critical part of the Trial Flow experience. It helps participants understand what to expect, complete key actions and engage confidently throughout their clinical trial journey. Our content spans written, audio, video and product UI experiences for children, teenagers, caregivers and adult participants around the world.
In your role, you will lead our approach to content across the product, developing the strategy, standards and guardrails that enable us to deliver high-quality, effective content at scale, on time and on budget. You will work closely with Product, Delivery, Clinical, Design and other teams to align content priorities and approaches with participant needs, product goals and business priorities.
You will be accountable for the effectiveness of our end-to-end content capability, from how content is designed and generated through to clinical review, publishing and localisation. You will line manage the Content Co-ordination Manager and Localisation Manager, oversee the outputs of freelancers and other contributors, and work with internal subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and effective.
This role is right for someone who enjoys setting direction and creating effective ways of working, but is equally comfortable getting stuck in when needed. You might experiment with AI prompts and workflows, shape product UI content, improve a process or tackle a complex content challenge yourself.
If you are looking for a primarily editorial or copywriting role where most of your time is spent creating content yourself or your background is primarily in Marketing content roles, this is unlikely to be the right role for you.
The role reports to the CPO and sits within the Product team. You will need to be hands on, and work closely with your direct reports in a small team.
This is a full-time role, either hybrid in Leeds or fully remote within the UK. We cannot sponsor visas to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
Content strategy and content experience
- Develop and evolve our content strategy in collaboration with Product, Clinical, Discovery, Design, Commercial and other stakeholders, aligning participant needs, product strategy and business priorities.
- Drive a commercially sustainable approach to content, maximising reuse and efficient adaptation while ensuring costs and margins inform pricing decisions.
- Refine the principles, guidelines and guardrails to enable consistent, high-quality content decisions.
- Evolve the content experience across Little Journey and Trial Flow, including educational, support, coping and product UI content.
- Identify opportunities for content to improve participant outcomes, product engagement and customer value, working with Product and Design to incorporate these into product discovery and development.
- Develop how we use AI alongside human expertise to generate and iterate high-quality content, experimenting with prompts, models and workflows while putting appropriate guardrails and clinical validation in place.
Content quality and delivery
- Own Content Delivery, working closely with Delivery to ensure content is delivered on time, on budget and to our quality benchmarks.
- Establish and maintain proportionate standards, governance and approval processes that ensure content is accurate, appropriate and consistent without creating unnecessary barriers to delivery.
- Manage complex content lifecycles, ensuring content moves effectively from identified need through generation, expert review, publishing, delivery, versioning, and archival .
- Provide content judgement where participant, clinical, product or commercial requirements need to be balanced.
- Continuously improve how content is structured and delivered, using better processes, tooling, automation and reuse to increase efficiency and scalability.
Localisation
- Be accountable for the effectiveness of our localisation capability and strategy, ensuring it delivers the required quality, scalability and cost-effectiveness as Little Journey grows internationally.
- Set clear outcomes and priorities for localisation and support the Localisation Manager to deliver them.
Influencing and Collaboration
- Line manage and develop your team, setting clear outcomes and enabling them to take ownership of delivery.
- Work directly with client stakeholders where needed to align content plans, manage feedback and resolve content-related issues.
- Commission and oversee freelancers and external contributors, ensuring clear briefs, expectations and quality of outputs.
- Work closely with key internal stakeholders to create alignment around content priorities and decisions, ensuring content is championed across roadmaps, projects, engagements and company priorities.
Measurement and continuous improvement
- Define appropriate measures of content effectiveness and operational metrics within Little Journey's existing data framework, connecting content performance to relevant company and product metrics.
- Use participant feedback, product and behavioural data, operational insights and stakeholder input to identify and prioritise improvements.
- Measure whether changes to content, localisation, tooling and ways of working are improving outcomes, quality, efficiency or cost.
Requirements
Required
- Significant and demonstrable experience developing and implementing content strategy for digital products or platforms.
- Experience establishing content governance, standards and scalable content processes within the product function.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Design and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality content.
- Practical experience using generative AI to create or iterate content, with the curiosity and confidence to experiment with prompts, models and workflows while applying appropriate quality controls.
- Strong understanding of content lifecycle management.
- Experience using user insights and data to improve content effectiveness.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
- Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading work through others, including setting direction, giving high-quality feedback and holding internal or external contributors accountable for outcomes.
- Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive content principles.
Desirable:
- Experience managing multilingual content and localisation.
- Experience in clinical trials or another regulated industry.
- Financial understanding of content creation or previous P&L or cost ownership
- Experience with UX writing or information architecture.
- Experience managing or configuring a Content Management System.
- Experience designing content across broad age groups.
- Understanding of behaviour change, patient education or health literacy principles.
Benefits
- 28 days annual leave per year (plus public holidays)
- £500 annual training budget
- £200 home working budget (one-off)
- Up to 6% pension match (salary sacrifice)
- EMI share options
- Enhanced (family & parental) leave policies
About Little Journey
Little Journey was founded by Dr Chris Evans, a paediatric anaesthetist and researcher, and Sophie Copley, a human-centred product designer, with a shared ambition to improve how people are supported through complex experiences. What began by supporting children and families through healthcare has evolved into Trial Flow, our platform focused entirely on participant support in clinical trials.
Our mission is to make patient-centric participation the foundation of better research. We believe better support leads to better participation, and better participation leads to better research. As clinical trials become more complex, Trial Flow helps participants, families and sites navigate what is being asked of them, reducing avoidable burden and supporting better adherence, retention and trial outcomes.
Today, Little Journey is a Series A company with a team of around 30 to 40 people, working with pharmaceutical companies on clinical trials around the world. We care deeply about the people our work ultimately supports, and that shapes how we work together. We value honesty and integrity, trust people to take accountability, and make time to reflect, learn and improve.
Diversity & Inclusion
We encourage people from all walks of life to apply and strive to eliminate unconscious bias in our recruitment process. We do not discriminate on ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran or parental status or disability. We encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
