SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Resource Provision - Barking
Full Time | Term Time Only | September 2026 Start
We are recruiting a number of enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a mainstream secondary school in Barking with a well-established Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs.
- Support students with ASD and Special Educational Needs (SEN) across the specialist provision and mainstream classrooms
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help students access learning
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Implement strategies from EHCPs and individual learning plans
- Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development throughout the school day
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with ASD, Autism or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Confidence working in a mainstream secondary school or specialist provision
- A patient, proactive and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential
Location & Transport - Barking, East London
- Accessible via Barking Station (District, Hammersmith & City, Overground and C2C services)
- Close to Upney and Becontree (District Line)
- Bus routes: 5, 62, 145, 169, 173, 287, EL1, EL2
- Excellent transport links from Ilford, Dagenham, Romford, Stratford and Central London
