Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our established Parenteral Nutrition (PN) Team.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist support and care to children and young people receiving PN, both in hospital and the community. This varied role includes care coordination, patient and family support, education and training, MDT participation, and liaison with healthcare professionals, schools and community services.

About You
Is motivated, organised and able to work independently.Has experience caring for children receiving PN.Is competent in central line management and IV therapy administration, including PN.Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.Is confident using Microsoft Word and Excel.Essential RequirementsRegistered Children's Nurse with current NMC registration.Experience in paediatric nursing and IV therapies.Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Matron, your responsibilities will include:

• Attend and coordinate Gastroenterology ward rounds and meetings, supporting nurse-led clinics.
• Lead nurse-led ward rounds and patient reviews.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care, education, and support.
• Manage daily telephone and email support services for patients and families.
• Teach patients, families, and staff on medication management and care.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including community and hospital professionals.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential

• RN Child (RSCN) or equivalent
• 998 or equivalent teaching certificate

Desirable

• Diploma level post basic nursing qualification in relevant field
• Degree in relevant subject
• Working towards completion of nonmedical prescribing

Experience
Essential

• Experience of providing clinical advice in relation to the specialist area.
• Experience of writing policies and procedures for different audiences.
• Experience of determining appropriate solution to problems pulling on different information available.

Desirable

• Experience of working with the Specialty patient group
• Audit / Research experience
• Project or caseload management

Knowledge and Skills
Essential

• Knowledge of clinical governance activities, including audit, benchmarking and quality improvement
• Ability to dynamically risk assess clinical situations and respond appropriately.
• Ability to monitor and respond to changes in patient conditions effectively.
• Effective communication skills to provide guidance and education to patients.
• Work independently or part of a team
• Safeguarding Knowledge
