Senior Veterinary Surgeon

In the heart of East London, home of Billingsgate fish market, E Pellicci’s cafe and the Columbia Road Flower Market sits our very popular Plaistow practice, and they are looking for a senior vet who thrives in a busy GP branch environment and wants to make their mark!

​About your new role!

​

​ Our new team member will be no stranger to fast paced GP branch life, building rapport with clients their beloved animals. You will be working alongside an energetic team including a part-time vet, senior RVN, RVN, and enthusiastic trainee nurses.

​

​This is a 4-day week role and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:8 Wanstead Hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota ‘d to 1 to 2 bank holidays per annum in Wanstead and be part of their last resort on-call rotation.

​

​Our Plaistow practice has supported the local community for years, providing invaluable diagnostic and surgical care, and being ISFM accredited they have a passion for feline welfare.

​

​Facilities on site include digital x-ray, dental x-ray and ultrasound. For anything more advanced the practice is supported by Wanstead 24-hour hour hospital, for internal referrals or OOH care and hospitalisation.

​

​ As a senior branch vet some of your duties will include:

–           Oversee prescription request administration to ensure that client requests are processed in a timely and accurate manner, that dispensed items are paid for, and that uncollected prescriptions are returned to stock in line with company policy.
–           Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.
–           Provide site-level induction to new starter colleagues and locums.
–           Ensure that regular branch meetings are scheduled, minutes taken and actions completed.
–           Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
–           Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
–           Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
–           Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
–           Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.

The practice is surrounded by plenty of transport links, including Upton Park on the circle line (the yellow line) and is a 10-minute walk away, which goes through London Liverpool Street where you can pick up most other tube/train lines.

​ Our senior vet salary band is £60,000 to £90,000 FTE depending on prior experience and allowing room for professional growth within the role.

​
