IB Diploma Spanish B and Spanish ab initio Teacher - Part Time

Collegio San Carlo is an independent Catholic School and one of Milan's historic educational institutions, having celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2019. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a relatively new and small IB DP within a well-established school (K-yr 13 ) with a student body of nearly 2000 students.

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and qualified teacher to join our International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme team.  The successful candidate will teach Spanish B Higher Level, Standard Level and Spanish ab initio.  This will be a part-time position starting September 2026.

The position could be full time for candidates with Italian Teaching Degree and " abilitazione" for Secondary Language Teaching .

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons in IB Spanish B and ab initio, ensuring alignment with IB standards, assessment criteria, and syllabus requirements and considering individual student educational needs.

• Actively promote and model the IB Learner Profile and ATLs (approaches to learning).

• Assess student work using a variety of strategies, provide constructive feedback and prepare students for IB internal and external assessments.  Use assessment to inform teaching.

• Support students through participation in the Advisory programme, provide personalised academic support and foster independent learning during tutorial supervision.

• Deliver skills development workshops to ensure students have the technical skills and knowledge they need for the IB Diploma Programme and beyond.

• Oversee Extended Essays guiding students through research, methodology, and writing.

• Participate in parent-teacher meetings, progress reporting and collaborative planning with colleagues.

• Contribute to departmental meetings, curriculum development, and extracurricular activities as needed.

• Collaborate with other language teachers and teachers from other disciplines in initiating, developing and implementing interdisciplinary projects and other activities.

• Carry out administrative and organisational tasks related to the programme including for example, reporting, unit planning etc.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in discipline related to the subject

• IB teaching certification or recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, BEd, or Italian equivalents).

• Proven experience teaching IB Spanish (minimum 2-3 years preferred).

• Strong knowledge of IB Diploma Programme philosophy, assessment practices, and learner profile.

• Native Spanish speaker

• Eligibility to work in Italy/EU (e.g., EU citizenship, valid visa, or permesso di soggiorno).
