Sister/Charge Nurse - Teenage Cancer Trust Unit

We are inviting applications from experienced cancer nurses with an RN (child or adult) qualification to apply for a full time permanent role as Sister/Charge Nurse on the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, which is dedicated to the care of young people with cancer aged between 14 and 24 years of age.

You will need to demonstrate the desire to work with teenagers and young adults with cancer, and have some experience of working with young people. You will have extensive post registration experience in an oncology or haematology setting, and be competent in IV drug and chemotherapy administration.

You must have the ability and flexibility to work in both the 8-bedded inpatient ward and day unit area.

You will have potential to further develop leadership and management skills. In return we will provide you with the support and resources you need to succeed in this position.

Main duties of the job

•    Assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the overall management of the ward. Ensure patients are provided with a safe, individualised, holistic and evidence based care.

•    Provide leadership to all members of the ward promoting effective teamwork.

•    Assist the Ward Sister in managing the Ward or Department, deputising for them in their absence.

•    Act as Divisional bleep holder and cover the out of hour Acute Oncology service helpline.

•    On a rotational basis, and with the relevant support and training, take on responsibility for an aspect of the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse portfolio.
