A welcoming and supportive school in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing within a positive and inclusive school environment.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide effective classroom assistance, helping pupils engage with their learning, develop confidence and make positive progress.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide classroom support to pupils across different year groups.
* Assist teachers with learning activities, lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who require additional assistance.
* Support literacy, numeracy and targeted learning interventions.
* Assist pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs.
* Encourage positive behaviour and promote pupil engagement.
* Support pupils with their social, emotional and academic development.
* Help pupils develop confidence, independence and communication skills.
* Support pupils who may experience behaviours that challenge.
* Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will Have

* A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Previous experience working within a school or educational setting.
* Experience supporting children with additional learning needs or SEND.
* Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support.
* A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or behaviours that challenge would be advantageous.
* Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant would be beneficial.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
* Team Teach training would be desirable but is not essential.
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
* A fully checkable employment and reference history.
