Graduate Interior Designer

I’m working with an established workplace design and fit-out specialist in Aberdeen that is looking to add a talented graduate to its interiors team. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a supportive, commercially minded business where you’ll gain genuine project exposure, learn from experienced designers and see your ideas progress from an initial conversation to a completed space.

You’ll be involved in creating engaging, practical interiors that help organisations make better use of their workplaces. Working alongside designers, project managers and other technical specialists, you’ll support projects through the full design process. That could include developing concepts, preparing mood boards, producing space plans, selecting finishes and furniture, creating presentation material and assisting with technical drawing packages.

This won’t be a role where you spend your first year making tea or endlessly updating a finishes library. You’ll be encouraged to contribute ideas, ask questions and take increasing ownership as your confidence and technical ability develop. You’ll also have the chance to attend client meetings, visit sites and understand the commercial realities behind delivering successful interior projects.

The company is looking for someone who has recently completed a degree in interior design, interior architecture or a closely related subject. You should have a strong portfolio demonstrating your design thinking, creativity and ability to communicate an idea clearly. Some experience using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or Adobe Creative Suite would be useful, but you don’t need to arrive knowing everything. A willingness to learn, an eye for detail and a positive approach will matter just as much as your current software skills.

You’ll suit this opportunity if you’re genuinely interested in workplace design and enjoy balancing creativity with practical problem-solving. Commercial interiors need to look good, but they also need to function properly, meet a client’s brief and work within real budgets and timescales. Being able to listen, collaborate and respond constructively to feedback will therefore be important.

You’ll receive hands-on support as you build your technical knowledge, develop your client-facing skills and establish yourself as a professional designer.
