LSA - Manchester - January 2026 start

Are you a committed LSA who enjoys helping pupils access learning and achieve small-step progress? A thriving primary school in Manchester is recruiting an LSA to join a collaborative team from January 2026.

The LSA will support classroom teachers by delivering interventions, working with individuals and small groups, adapting resources and helping pupils develop confidence and independence. This LSA role in Manchester involves a mixture of targeted academic support (phonics, reading, number practice) and pastoral care to ensure pupils are ready to learn. Induction and a full handover will be provided before January 2026, so the LSA can be effective from January 2026.

Role responsibilities

• Deliver planned one-to-one and small-group interventions to improve reading, phonics and maths skills.
• Support whole-class teaching by scaffolding activities and providing timely prompts to learners.
• Implement individual strategies agreed with teachers/SENCo and help pupils build independent learning habits.
• Keep accurate records of pupil progress, contribute to reviews and suggest adjustments to support plans.
• Support the wider school community by supervising breaks, assisting with transitions and promoting positive behaviour in Manchester.

Person specification

• Experience supporting pupils in classrooms, with confidence delivering small-group interventions as an LSA.
• Good interpersonal skills, patient and adaptable to meet a wide range of pupil needs across Manchester.
• Able to manage basic record-keeping and to work collaboratively with teachers, TAs and leaders.
• Available to begin January 2026 and to take part in induction and handover activities prior to January 2026.
