Family Support Worker

We are working closely alongside a local authority in Worcestershire   t o assist with the appointment of a Family   Support Worker  on a 3- months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Hours Per Week: 18.00

Rate of Pay : £15.48 - £20.23  per hour

Summary:

The Family Support Worker will provide direct, practical and emotional support to children, parents, carers and families involved with Children's Services, particularly where children are subject to child protection plans or where there is a risk of family breakdown.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct work and practical support to children, parents, carers and other family members as part of an agreed assessment, plan or review.
• Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships with children and families.
• Support families to identify strengths, recognise areas requiring change and develop practical strategies to improve family functioning.
• Encourage and empower parents and carers to take responsibility for meeting the needs of their children.

Qualifications:

• Relevant training in safeguarding children and child protection.
• Training or knowledge relating to child development and family support practice.
• Relevant training or understanding of domestic abuse, substance misuse and emotional or mental health issues would be advantageous.

Essentials :

• Experience of working directly with children, young people and families in a social care, family support, education, community or related setting.
• Experience of providing practical and emotional support to vulnerable children and families.
• Experience of undertaking direct work with children and parents as part of an assessment, plan or review.

• You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
• You should have right to work in U.K
• This role requires an Enhanced DBS
