You are a commercially astute EPA or CPA Qualified Patent Attorney, with a technology focused scientific background looking for a uniquely challenging position. You must have acquired excellent academic achievements to date, with a degree in a STEM subject (Physics, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science). Experience of working in patent law within a private practice, full-service law firm or in-house team is desired.
You will be expected to advise on patent issues, both contentious and non-contentious, with a focus on technology & telecommunications patent litigation; and assist clients with quantitative patent intelligence, patent valuation, and royalty rate determinations (especially in relation to Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) and FRAND).
In relation to patent litigation, you will be expected to apply your patent knowledge to assist clients across a range of technically complex industries, to reach commercial solutions to the legal issues that they face. The firm advises in a way that supports clients' strategic objectives and is practical and commercial.
This unique Patent Attorney role with an industry-leading IP consultancy is firmly established within a top tier practice group, and the team is responsible for advising many of the world’s biggest technology companies on transactions and disputes.
You should possess a natural aptitude for problem solving and critical thinking and have a proactive drive to innovate and learn new skills. You thrive on thinking outside of the box to solve complex IP problems, enabling you to impart clear, actionable advice for a wide range of clients.
You will advise on analysing patent datasets and explaining results to clients in a cohesive and transparent manner will be a highly valued skillset. You should also possess an aptitude to liaise effectively with stakeholders from a diverse range of teams, including clients and those from non-technical lawyers and senior managers to specialised roles such as engineers, economists, data analysts, statisticians and IT developers
Applications are especially welcomed from Patent Attorneys with a proven ability to navigate technical data, with excellent attention to detail. You’ll be working in a close-knit team-based environment, so your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will come to the fore.
If you’re looking for something uniquely different, where you can flex your Patent Attorney and IP knowledge to the fullest, then contact James Dawes at View email address on jobs.thelawyer.com or call View phone number on jobs.thelawyer.com for a confidential chat and a detailed job brief.
