Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, Full-time

Base location - Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Shift Pattern - Monday to Saturday (long days) Twilight shift Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Key responsibilities:

• Provide clinical leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based patient care
• Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse, coordinating the unit and leading the nursing team to deliver safe and effective care
• Supervise, support and develop nursing staff, promoting a positive and learning-focused environment
• Ensure high standards of care, governance, infection prevention and control and compliance within the unit
• Manage resources effectively, including staffing, equipment and rota planning
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC standards and organisational policies
• Contribute to audit, research, service improvement and the development of renal services

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• First-level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
• Proven experience within renal nursing with competence in haemodialysis
• Evidence of leadership experience and ability to manage and develop a team
• Educated to degree level with ongoing professional development
• Excellent communication, decision-making and organisational skills
• Knowledge of clinical governance, infection control, and NHS policies and procedures
• Ability to work flexibly and effectively within a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
