Religion, Philosophy & Ethics Teacher - Chester, Cheshire
A respected and inclusive 11–18 secondary school in the Chester area is seeking a reflective and engaging Teacher of Religion, Philosophy & Ethics to join its well-established Humanities faculty. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach a subject that plays a central role in students’ personal, moral and intellectual development.
The Role
You will teach Religious Education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to contribute to KS5 Philosophy or Ethics depending on experience. The curriculum is carefully structured and academically rigorous, encouraging students to explore a wide range of religious, philosophical and ethical perspectives while developing strong discussion, evaluation and extended writing skills.
Lessons place a strong emphasis on respectful debate, critical thinking and real-world application. Students are encouraged to engage thoughtfully with contemporary moral issues, belief systems and worldviews, making the subject highly relevant and well-regarded within the school.

The Department
The Humanities faculty is collaborative, experienced and supportive, with RE working closely alongside History and Geography. Teachers share resources, assessments and ideas, ensuring consistency while still valuing individual teaching styles. New staff are well supported through mentoring and regular subject meetings.
RE is a popular and respected subject, with strong outcomes at GCSE and high levels of student engagement.
About You
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification in Religious Education, Philosophy or a related subject
Have strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for ethical and philosophical enquiry
Be confident leading discussion and supporting students in expressing their views thoughtfully
Value collaboration and contribute positively to a team-oriented faculty
Be committed to inclusive, respectful teaching
