Role Title: Construction Manager

Business Unit: Digital Infrastructure

Location: Leicestershire; Avon, Dunbartonshire, Glasgow

Role Purpose:

As a Construction Manager within our Defence programme, you will support Project and Site Managers to deliver works safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You'll help coordinate resources, support programme delivery and work with teams and suppliers to ensure buildability and effective planning from pre-construction through to delivery.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Promote a safe, inclusive and "knowingly safe" site culture
• Support Site Managers to meet safety, quality and programme requirements
• Assist with audits (HSE, quality, safety) and ensure actions are closed out
• Help plan, coordinate and allocate construction resources effectively
• Work with project, site and HR teams to ensure the right skills are in place
• Oversee subcontractor performance, relationships and resource coordination
• Support pre-construction by contributing to buildability and planning
• Identify and help resolve technical or programme risks
• Ensure works are delivered in line with contracts, standards and quality plans
• Contribute to progress updates, reporting and project handover

Experience & Requirements:

• Relevant qualifications (e.g. SMSTS, CSCS)
• Experience in construction, ideally civil engineering or groundworks
• Good understanding of NEC contracts and site record-keeping
• Knowledge of construction methods and best practice
• Experience working with subcontractors and managing site delivery
• Defence/MoD project experience (desirable)
• Able to obtain DV security clearance (essential)
• Willing to travel as required

Galliford Try's Telecoms business works predominantly within the UK's Critical National Infrastructure market, focussing on Wireless, Core and Private 5G Networks, Defence and Renewable Energy sectors.

We deliver multi-site programs, and our expertise in the planning, design, and delivery processes, together with our CNI Security knowledge and experience, enables us to efficiently deliver fully integrated design and construction programmes and portfolios of work on critical operational and secure assets.
