We are working on a highly confidential search for a global financial services organisation seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Manager.

\n

\n

This is a senior and highly visible role sitting at the intersection of enterprise risk, business transformation and integration. The successful candidate will lead the Risk function’s involvement in acquisitions, large-scale change programmes, regulatory initiatives and the introduction of new business activities.

\n

\n

You will work across both financial and non-financial risk disciplines, ensuring that new businesses and strategic changes are successfully incorporated into the organisation’s risk framework, governance structure and control environment.

\n

\n

Key responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead the Risk workstream for acquisitions, integrations and major transformation programmes.
\n
• Translate strategic initiatives into clear risk, governance, regulatory, operational, technology, data and reporting requirements.
\n
• Design and implement target operating models for the Risk function.
\n
• Coordinate delivery across market risk, counterparty credit risk, liquidity risk, model risk and operational risk teams.
\n
• Assess how acquisitions and new business activities affect the organisation’s overall risk profile, risk appetite and control environment.
\n
• Establish appropriate governance forums, working groups and steering committees.
\n
• Monitor delivery progress, dependencies, resource requirements, implementation risks and key decisions.
\n
• Define meaningful metrics to measure whether an acquisition has been successfully integrated into the Risk framework.
\n
• Produce high-quality executive and board-level reporting on integration progress, risks and strategic dependencies.
\n
• Support operational-readiness assessments and go-live decisions.
\n
• Review the design and operating effectiveness of risk controls, identifying weaknesses and ensuring improvements are embedded into business-as-usual activity.
\n
• Challenge programme assumptions and proposed solutions where they do not align with risk-management principles or governance standards.
\n

What we are looking for

\n

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

\n

\n
• A strong, practical understanding of market risk, counterparty credit risk, liquidity risk, model risk and operational risk .
\n
• Experience working on large-scale change programmes, business integrations or acquisitions .
\n
• Direct responsibility for designing and implementing a target operating model .
\n
• The ability to establish clear metrics for assessing integration success, including governance, risk appetite, policy alignment, control effectiveness, data quality, systems, reporting, issue remediation and successful transition into BAU.
\n
• Strong controls knowledge, including how to assess whether a control is appropriately designed and has operated consistently and effectively over time.
\n
• Broad enterprise risk and GRC experience within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
\n
• A strong understanding of financial products, trading activity and the risks and controls associated with them.
\n
• The ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders without relying on direct authority.
\n
• Experience producing executive or board-level management information.
\n
• Strong programme coordination, governance and delivery capabilities.

Experience required

\n

\n
• Approximately seven or more years’ experience within enterprise risk, risk transformation, risk change or a related discipline.
\n
• A proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives.
\n
• Experience engaging with senior leadership, programme teams, technology functions and specialist risk teams.
\n
• Exposure to regulatory or internal audit engagement would be advantageous.

This role would suit someone who combines credible enterprise risk knowledge with hands-on transformation and integration experience. It is not purely a programme-management position: the successful candidate must understand the underlying risk disciplines and be capable of challenging whether risk frameworks and controls have been implemented effectively.
