Specialist Practitioner Safeguarding Adults

Job Summary

The Safeguarding Team are looking for a Specialist Safeguarding Adults Practitioner to join their team to deliver, support and promote safeguarding within Cheshire and Wirral partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The role focuses on early identification of health related safeguarding risks, direct work with vulnerable adults where required, and close collaboration with social care, police, education, and other specialist services to promote timely, coordinated, and relationship based interventions that improve outcomes for adults at risk. Main Duties of the Job

• To support the Head of Safeguarding and Named Nurse in the execution of statutory roles and responsibilities.
• To promote quality and effectiveness of health workers responses to safeguard children and adults at risk.
• To work as an advanced specialist practitioner providing supervision, advice, and training to staff around safeguarding.
• To take part in developing and implementing policies and procedures and audit in partnership with other organisations.
• To demonstrate active leadership skills in the management of safeguarding within multiagency setting.
• To interpret and apply relevant, up to date research to clinical practice in consultation with the senior safeguarding team.
• To promote high standards of practice relating to the safety and welfare of children and adults at risk in all areas of service provision .

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current NMC/ HCPC registration
• First level degree (or equivalent)
• Masters level qualification or evidence of working towards the qualification
• Evidence of personal and professional development
• ENB 998 or any relevant teaching qualification

Desirable

• Management Course / qualification
• Post grad qualification in Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
• Best Interest Assessor
• Clinical Supervision Qualification
• Leadership Qualification

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential

• Specialist knowledge of the Safeguarding Adult at Risk Categories through training and the demonstrable ability to translate knowledge into practice
• Knowledge of the legal frameworks and procedures pertaining to Safeguarding adults including Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS and PREVENT
• Knowledge of the domestic abuse agenda and associated legislation and guidance
• Understanding the impact and risks of mental ill health, substance misuse and learning disabilities in relation to adult safeguarding
• Knowledge of clinical governance

Desirable

• Sound understanding of change management principles
• Sound understanding of the Government's counter-terrorism strategy (CONTEST)

• Significant post qualification clinical experience, especially in managing adult/child protection cases and the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information
• Experience of working within the safeguarding adult arena including domestic abuse
