Arborist/ Tree Surgeon Wanted - Wimbourne

S Draper Tree Specialists Ltd is looking for an experienced and reliable Tree Climber/Arborist to join our professional tree surgery team.

This is a hands-on role carrying out high-quality arboricultural work for residential, commercial and local authority
clients. The successful candidate will be confident working at height, using climbing equipment and chainsaws safely, and supporting the team in delivering efficient, tidy and professional tree work.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out aerial tree work including pruning, crown reductions, crown lifting,
thinning, dismantling and sectional felling.
- Climb trees safely using ropes, harnesses and approved climbing systems.
- Use chainsaws, rigging equipment, woodchippers and other arboricultural tools safely and effectively.
- Work as part of a team to complete jobs efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
- Complete risk assessments before and during work.
- Ensure all work areas are left clean, tidy and safe for clients and the public.
- Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues and site contacts.
- Maintain tools, machinery, PPE and climbing equipment in good working order.
- Follow company health and safety procedures, industry best practice and relevant arboricultural standards.

Preferred Skills

Previous experience as a tree climber, arborist or tree surgeon, minimum 2 years experience.

Qualifications:

City & Guilds NPTC Cs30 - Chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting.

City & Guilds NPTC 31 - Fell and process small trees

City & Guilds NPTC 38 – Climb trees and perform aerial rescue

City & Guilds NPTC 39 – Use of a chainsaw from rope and harness

Full UK driving license.

- Strong understanding of safe working practices when working at height and using chainsaws.
- Good physical fitness and confidence working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a team.

Desirable:

- Experience with rigging and sectional dismantling.
- Woodchipper, stump grinder or MEWP qualifications.
- Knowledge of tree identification, tree health and common pests and diseases.
- First aid qualification.
- Trailer licence or experience towing.
