A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 76 year old woman in the area of Barry who used to work in the NHS for many years. I have various different conditions including Fibromyalgia, COPD and mobility issues which causes me a lot of body pain. I have a trapped nerve in the neck causing a lot of pain down my arms with constant sciatic pain in my left hip. And have had many operations on both my back and knees. I also has Bells Palsy- left facial drop and neuralgic pain; this affects my mouth which in turn affects drinking and eating.
I have sleep apnoea and wear Nippy machine at night. I require assistance to help put my mask on.
I am immobile and use an electric wheelchair. I can also use 2 sticks to transfer or walk short distances when I am able; however I am often unstable and am not able to walk far. I'm a chatty person who loves nothing more than to have a cup of tea and a natter. It is important to me that I also maintain as much independence as possible. Duties include but not limited to; personal care, cooking, cleaning, basic administrative tasks, medication tasks and taking to appointments. Must have a full clean drivers license and be willing to drive a Motability car. Some shift cover may be required and flexibility is needed.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I currently have a team of carers to support me at home to remain as independent and safe as possible. We are looking for another PA to join my team.
PLACE OF WORK
At my home address in Barry
HOURS OF WORK
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday 3pm-7pm
RATE OF PAY £13.80 per hour plus double pay on bank holidays, plus mileage where applicable.
TASKS INVOLVED
Food preparation
General cleaning around the home
Personal care
Administration tasks like going to the post office TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Needs to be trustworthy and confident
Needs to be dedicated and reliable
Someone who would be comfortable and confident to transfer into wheelchair, where necessary
Must be a driver with business class insurance
Someone who respects my privacy, confidentiality and dignity
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
