Job Overview for the Health Visitor Job in Ashford
As a Health Visitor, you will play a crucial role in delivering the Healthy Child Programme to families across Ashford. You will work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting parents and carers through antenatal visits, new birth assessments, and ongoing developmental reviews.

Key Responsibilities for the Health Visitor Job in Ashford
- Deliver the Healthy Child Programme through home visits, clinics, and community engagement.
- Conduct health needs assessments for children and families and develop personalised care plans.
- Offer advice and support on parenting, infant feeding, sleep, behaviour, and child development.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, working closely with social services and other agencies.
- Facilitate health promotion activities and parenting support groups.
- Collaborate with GPs, schools, midwives, and early years providers to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Accurately maintain patient records and documentation in line with NHS policies and procedures.
- Support the training and supervision of student health visitors and junior staff.
Requirements for the Health Visitor Job in Ashford
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with current NMC registration.
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) qualification in Health Visiting.
- Sound knowledge of child development, public health policies, and safeguarding procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with families.
- Confidence in managing a varied caseload independently.
- IT literate and competent in using electronic health record systems.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car for community visits.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in community or public health nursing.
