The University of Bath is a world-leading research-intensive institution offering top-quality education and research with significant real-world influence. We are committed to nurturing a high-performing health and safety culture that empowers us to sustainably provide excellent teaching and research.
We are growing our Safety, Health and Employee Wellbeing team as part of this commitment and now seek an experienced and pragmatic Health and Safety Audit Manager. You will serve as the lead H&S auditor for the university, spotting areas of effective practice and chances to enhance performance. You will provide solid and careful reassurance to Senior leaders and our governing body about maintaining the high standards we have set. Additionally, you will use your health and safety expertise to assist duty holders in resolving any issues highlighted through this review process.
About the role
As the skilled Health and Safety Audit lead, you'll be responsible for:
- Creating and implementing a yearly internal safety audit timetable founded on Faculty and departmental risk profiles along with the University's Operational Health and Safety Risk Register.
- Reviewing and reporting on the application of safety policies, risk assessments, and Codes of Practice, identifying and reporting on areas for improvement.
- Working alongside senior leaders and managers across the organization to develop, finalize, and carry out feasible corrective action plans. Monitoring open audit actions guarantees their timely completion.
- Presenting key findings such as areas of effective and commendable practice, non-conformances, and assurance. Also, reporting progress on agreed actions to the University Executive Board, University Council, and relevant internal committees.
This varied role is part of the University's Safety, Health and Employee Wellbeing Service. You will join a specialist team offering support, advice, guidance, and assurance throughout the University.
The role is primarily based at the University's Claverton Down campus. Hybrid work is allowed occasionally, with a maximum of two days off-site per week based on responsibilities. Job share options are available. Kindly mention your preference when applying.
