Mental Health Practitioner

£20.1 - £23.5 per hourEstimated

The Role

The Mental Health Practitioner post is an exciting opportunity to work within the East Dunbartonshire Mental Health Team.

The Post Has Two Aspects To The Role

  • Carrying out ADHD assessments, monitoring medication and treatment for a small caseload of patients, working closely with the Psychiatrist.
  • Supporting delivery of low-level psychological therapies, individually or within a group setting.

You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), while also being able to work autonomously.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent full-time post working 36 hours per week
  • These hours will be worked Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 ( one day finish at 15.30pm)
  • The base is at Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre; however, the post holder may be required to travel to other bases throughout East Dunbartonshire.
  • Due to the large geographical area, a valid driving licence is required.

Key Responsibilities

You will carry out ADHD assessments and monitor medication and treatment for a small caseload of patients, working closely with a Psychiatrist.

You will deliver low-level psychological therapies on an individual and group basis, while working both autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.

The role requires excellent planning, organisational, and mental health assessment skills, alongside the ability to remain adaptable and flexible. In addition, the post holder will support junior staff, including student nurses, and contribute to the overall functioning of the team.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • 1st level Mental Health Nurse
  • Registered with the NMC
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience
  • Full driving licence as the position requires driving to various clinics throughout East Dunbartonshire

Knowledge and Training

  • Training and robust supervision will be provided for ADHD-related work
  • Training and supervision will also be provided for delivery of low level psychological therapies
  • Post holder must demonstrate excellent mental health assessment skills and knowledge
