Mentor- Behavioural and SEMH
- Location : Havering
- Hours : Part‑time
- Pay Rate : £25-£30 per hour
- Start Date: ASAP
The focus of this role is to re‑engage young people with learning , build emotional resilience, and develop essential functional and life skills in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver bespoke intervention sessions that support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and re‑engagement
- Build a consistent, trusting relationship with the young person
- Implement self‑regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour and confidence
- Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure cohesive support
- Track and report progress in both emotional development and engagement
Requirements
- Experience with SEMH or similar behavioural/emotional needs
- Ability to build rapport quickly and create a safe learning space
- Calm, nurturing, patient approach to managing behaviour and emotional dysregulation
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Desirable Experience
- Youth work or PRU background
- Training in de‑escalation (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.)
- Knowledge of restorative practice and trauma‑informed approaches
