Health Care Assistant

A Health Care Assistant provides support to individuals in their own homes to live safely, comfortably, and as independently as possible. Day-to-day duties include assisting with personal care such as washing, dressing, and toileting, preparing meals, and supporting or prompting with medication in line with care plans. The role also includes helping with light household tasks, accompanying clients to appointments where required, and offering companionship through regular interaction and emotional support. Each visit is tailored to the individual, so being attentive and responsive to changing needs is important. Accurate record-keeping and clear communication with the wider care team are essential, particularly when reporting any changes in a client’s well-being. This is a practical, hands-on role that requires reliability, respect for privacy and dignity, and a caring approach at all times.
