Job summary
An opportunity has arisen in CITU for a permanent Sister/Charge Nurse. We are seeking an innovative, highly motivated nurse who has the ability to support the management of a busy unit on a daily basis using sound clinical knowledge and judgement as well as providing support to staff. You must be forward thinking, enthusiastic and possess excellent organisational skills. A desire to teach junior staff is essential.

Main duties of the job
We are recruiting a suitably qualified Sister/Charge Nurse to work in our Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit. The unit provides 20 level 2 and 3 beds for patients who have undergone cardiac and thoracic surgery. Candidates must have extensive Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care experience. You must have previous experience working at Band 5 level, in this specialty and have undertaken a programme of band 5 to band 6 progression.

Job responsibilities
As a band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be a visible personality on the ward who is able to take control of situations and manage the general day to day running of the ward. You will need to be approachable and supportive to all staff and be able to offer advice and guidance when needed. You will lead by example and support junior staff to maintain the ward's high standards.
