Duties and Responsibilities

The holder of this post is expected to carry out the professional duties described below, as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the school operations manager and Principal.

Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified. Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from their line manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this . Employees are expected to be courteous to colleagues at all times and provide a welcoming environment to visitors and telephone callers.

Purpose of Role

The main purpose of the School Transport Officer is to coordinate the information, monitor and implement the school bus transportation to students and staff. The post holder ensures smooth, safe and seamless transportation facility for students whilst complying with the requirements of UAE – RTA rules.

Key duties:

· To undertake and review status of school transport on weekly basis to ensure the school is in compliance with RTA & UAE Government rules and standards

· To regularly review all aspects to ensure transport safety

· Planning and implementing bus routes for students and staff pick up and drop off

· Ensure timely pick up and drop off for each student

· Taking new student registration for transport service

· Plan emergency transport requirements and other management requirements, when required

· Ensuring staff and parent satisfaction

· Communicating with staff and parents where applicable

· To provide a report to the Principal for any health and safety issues related to school transport

· To coordinate any school related activities with Emirates Transport and school Bus Monitors

· Maintain and ensure accurate records of data in the School Management System

· To be responsible for maintaining the booking system – collaboration with Together Schools

· Responsible for appropriate maintenance and safety checks carried out weekly

· Ensure all buses have a Leader and an Assistant, for assisting the driver and Teacher Assistant in case of emergencies

· Manage the back up plans for transport and manpower

· Mandatory presence during RTA inspections and providing information in the best interest of the school

· To provide quality services for customer requirements

· Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities

· First Aid experience and training

To be line managed by the School Operations Manager.

Full-time role, aligned with school operational hours (Monday–Thursday, 6:30 am – 4:00pm, Friday, 6:30 am to 1:00 pm) occasional evening and holiday work.

Holidays: 30 calendar days per academic year.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

- At least 2 years’ experience in relevant field

- Performance/impact orientated

- Strong ownership of work with a hunger to “get it done” and “get it done well”

- Strong stakeholder management skills, as you will be dealing with strong characters

- Excellent planning, project management & prioritization skills

- Team player with a collaborative approach

- Organization skills: well organized and able to prioritize tasks

- UAE Governmental rules and regulations related to school transport

- Ability to negotiate, persuade and motivate others

- Can be flexible when the situation demands.
