Role: UX Designer - Chester office, Hybrid.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a UX Designer with around 2 years of commercial experience who is passionate about creating intuitive, user-centred digital experiences. This role is ideal for someone who has worked across both UX and UI design, in a fast-paced eCommerce environment, is confident contributing to end-to-end design work, and is keen to continue developing their craft within a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.
You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to research, design, and iterate on digital journeys that balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design of user-centred digital experiences across web and/or mobile platforms.
- Support the end-to-end UX process, including discovery, research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and UI design.
- Produce low- and high-fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished UI designs.
- Translate user needs and business requirements into clear, usable design solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers and developers to ensure designs are feasible and delivered as intended.
- Participate in user research and usability testing, helping to plan, conduct, and synthesise findings.
- Apply and contribute to design systems, component libraries, and style guides.
- Iterate designs based on user feedback, analytics, and stakeholder input.
- Ensure designs meet accessibility and usability best practices.
· Support handover to development, including design specifications and assets.

Experience
Professional Experience
- Around 2 years’ commercial experience in a UX, UI, or Product Design role.
- Experience working across both UX and UI design, not purely visual or purely research-focused.
- Demonstrable experience designing for web-based digital products or services.
- Familiarity with user-centred design principles and common UX methods.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams, ideally in Agile or product-led environments.
Design & Technical Skills
- Strong skills in design tools such as Figma (or equivalent)
- User flows and journey maps
- Wireframes (low and high fidelity)
- Interactive prototypes
- Production-ready UI designs
- Basic understanding of front-end constraints (HTML, CSS, responsive design), enabling effective collaboration with developers.
- Awareness of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
Commercial & Brand Experience
- Experience balancing brand expression with conversion performance in a multi-brand setting.
- Experience working cross-functionally with brand, marketing and CRM teams to deliver consistent customer journeys.

Skills and Knowledge
Required
- Strong practical knowledge of user‑centred design principles and UX best practices
- Proficient in Figma (components, auto‑layout, variants, prototyping, design systems)
- Ability to create user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity UI
- Solid understanding of responsive web design and multi‑device experiences
- Working knowledge of usability testing methods and insight synthesis
- Awareness of accessibility standards and inclusive design (WCAG‑level understanding)
- Understanding of front‑end constraints (HTML/CSS concepts) to support effective collaboration with engineers
- Ability to translate business requirements into clear, usable design solutions
- Experience applying or contributing to design systems and reusable components
- Strong communication skills to present and justify design decisions to mixed audiences
Desirable
- Experience working with or contributing to design systems.
- Experience in adobe suite, illustrator or photoshop
- Exposure to analytics or behavioural data to inform design decisions.
- Experience in e‑commerce, transactional, or complex user journeys.
- Some involvement in usability testing or user research planning.
Qualifications (Desirable but not essential)
- Degree in UX/UI Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related discipline
- Relevant UX or Product Design certification
- Accessibility training or certification (WCAG awareness or inclusive design courses)
- Professional development in user research, usability testing, or service design
· Ongoing design‑focused learning (workshops, conferences, communities, or recognised online programmes)
This is a Full-Time position where you will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
