Ashington House Surgery is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Phlebotomist to join our busy primary care team for 20 hours per week . This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is already experienced and confident in taking blood samples and who enjoys delivering high-quality patient care in a professional, patient-focused environment. We are an established, friendly, and supportive training practice in West Swindon with a patient list of 10,000. We have a permanent team of two clinical partner GPs, four salaried GPs, an established nursing team, PCN Pharmacy team, First Contact Physiotherapist. We have a committed management structure, including business partner, that values collaboration and sustainability in general practice. The post holder works under indirect supervision and undertakes task and duties delegated by the partners or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients and following policy and procedures. - Perform venepuncture safely and efficiently in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Identify, label and process blood samples accurately.
- Ensure specimens are handled and transported appropriately.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients during procedures.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.
- Work collaboratively with clinicians, nurses and administrative staff.
- Maintain equipment and stock levels within the phlebotomy area.

- Actively reporting of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
- Keeping own work areas and general/patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holders role

Qualifications
Essential
- The successful candidate will:
- Have proven experience in venepuncture/phlebotomy with a certificate of undertaking a formal venepuncture course.
- Be confident working independently.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be organised and able to manage their workload effectively.
- Have a caring, professional and patient-centred approach.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and data protection.
- Knowledge & Experience:
- Good general education with demonstrable ability in Mathematics and English Language
- Experience of maintaining and manipulating computerised and/or paper-based data/information
- Ability to handle face to face in a professional manner
- Ability to organise and prioritise work, and to adhere to deadlines and targets
- Ability to handle information securely and confidentially
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Ability to work on own initiative dealing with confidential issues
- Able to work efficiently and with a great degree of accuracy
- Aptitude to adapt working style to meet the needs of the patient
- Aptitude to use standard office equipment efficiently
- Understanding of infection prevention and control procedures. Knowledge of patient confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding principles.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Competent IT skills and ability to use clinical systems.
- Previous experience within a GP practice or NHS setting is desirable but not essential
