Teaching Assistant

GSL are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support students in a primary school setting with identified learning needs, including SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health). This role is based in an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' school and involves supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

In-class support across a variety of subjects

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs. You will work closely with subject teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver personalised support strategies that enable students to engage with the primary curriculum.

Teaching Assistant - primary - Education and Training - Witham

Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1 / Small Group)

Location: Witham

Salary Scale: £92.59-£120 per day

Contract Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional learning needs

Support students in accessing a range of primary subjects (e.g. English, Maths, Science)

Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff

Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation

Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff

Support students during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times where required

Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Qualifications and Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to build positive relationships with primary -aged students

Patience, resilience, and adaptability

A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN/SEMH needs

Proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a team

Previous experience in a school or similar setting is desirable but not essential
