CORE PURPOSE

We require an inspiring, highly creative Drama Teacher to deliver outstanding theatrical and performing arts instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with opportunities to contribute to post-16 advanced performance pathways. Operating within an ambitious, oversubscribed specialist STEM provider, the successful candidate will facilitate a structured, practical-led curriculum designed to foster deep technical performance skills, dramatic textual analysis, and confident public speaking, preparing all pupils thoroughly for exceptional outcomes in terminal GCSE Drama public examinations and vocational performing arts qualifications.

• Theatrical Scaffolding & Ensemble Direction: Train pupils to a high technical standard in devising original theatre and interpreting published scripts, utilizing structured blocking templates and performance frameworks to build artistic confidence and teamwork.

• GCSE Performance Optimization: Guide Year 11 examination cohorts meticulously through the rigorous demands of terminal written papers, live theatre evaluations, and practical performance moderation, utilizing diagnostic assessment tracking to maximize high-grade boundary retention.

• Closing Performance Attainment Gaps: Identify and target learning barriers within mixed-ability cohorts, deploying explicit character-building scaffolding, visual staging models, and low-stakes performance frameworks to ensure accessibility for SEND pupils while stretching high-prior-attaining actors.

• Inclusive Pastoral Support: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, supporting pupil wellbeing, managing daily registration routines, and maintaining proactive, positive communication with families.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Drama, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, or a closely related creative or literature discipline.

• Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics and exceptional performance outcomes in terminal public GCSE Drama or vocational equivalents through highly structured, systematic, and explicit performance pedagogy.
