The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, helping to meet the healthcare needs of our patients while promoting positive health outcomes. The post holder will provide patient-centred care under the supervision of registered professionals, with particular responsibility for delivering cervical smear tests (or a willingness to take on further training), administering injections(or a willingness to take on further training), phlebotomy, NHS Health Checks and contributing to the day-to-day delivery of general practice services. Undertake cervical smear (cytology) tests in line with national guidelines and protocols.
- Administer a range of injections, including:
- Childhood immunisations (as appropriate)
- Flu and COVID-19 vaccines
- Travel vaccinations
- Vitamin B12 injections
- Perform basic wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures or clips.
- Record and monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
- Perform ECGs, urinalysis, and phlebotomy (if trained).
- Assist in health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using practice systems (EMIS).
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols and contribute to clinical audits and stock management.
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC as a Nursing Associate with no active conditions to practice.
- Trained in cervical screening or willingness to undertake training.
- Trained in Childhood immunisations or willingness to undertake training.
- Up-to-date training in immunisation and vaccination.
- Experience in a general practice or community healthcare setting.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Confident using clinical systems and electronic records.
- Phlebotomy and wound care experience.
- Experience supporting - QOF Quality and Outcomes Framework targets and recall systems.
- Additional qualifications in chronic disease management or smoking cessation.
