Nursing Associate

Job summary
Hedena Health is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and patient-focused Nursing Associate to support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care within our GP practice. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, helping to meet the healthcare needs of our patients while promoting positive health outcomes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop existing clinical skills and gain experience within a busy and rewarding primary care environment.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated and clinically skilled Nursing Associate to join our primary care team. The post holder will provide patient-centred care under the supervision of registered professionals, with particular responsibility for delivering cervical smear tests (or a willingness to take on further training), administering injections(or a willingness to take on further training), phlebotomy, NHS Health Checks and contributing to the day-to-day delivery of general practice services.

Job responsibilities
Undertake cervical smear (cytology) tests in line with national guidelines and protocols.

• Administer a range of injections, including:
• Childhood immunisations (as appropriate)
• Flu and COVID-19 vaccines
• Travel vaccinations
• Vitamin B12 injections
• Perform basic wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures or clips.
• Record and monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
• Perform ECGs, urinalysis, and phlebotomy (if trained).
• Assist in health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using practice systems (EMIS).
• Follow infection prevention and control protocols and contribute to clinical audits and stock management.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC as a Nursing Associate with no active conditions to practice.
• Trained in cervical screening or willingness to undertake training.
• Trained in Childhood immunisations or willingness to undertake training.
• Up-to-date training in immunisation and vaccination.
• Experience in a general practice or community healthcare setting.
• Good knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection.
• Confident using clinical systems and electronic records.

Desirable

• Phlebotomy and wound care experience.
• Experience supporting - QOF Quality and Outcomes Framework targets and recall systems.
• Additional qualifications in chronic disease management or smoking cessation.
