Credit Risk Analyst - 12 month FTC

At NEXT, we’re looking for a Credit & Risk Analyst to join our growing Credit & Risk team and help us use data to make better decisions for our customers and our business.

NEXT is one of the UK’s biggest retailers, with more than 40% of our online customers using one of our own-branded credit accounts. Our Credit & Risk team is responsible for analysing all aspects of this lending across around 3 million customers and £1.3bn in outstanding balances.

As a Credit & Risk Analyst, you’ll be at the heart of understanding our credit customers. You’ll use data and insight to investigate complex problems, identify risks and opportunities and help design, test and implement changes to our credit strategies.

The role is offered on an initial 12 month Fixed Term Contract

• Support the investigation and resolution of incidents affecting our regulated credit products, from identifying impacted customers through to delivering remediation and ensuring good customer outcomes.

• Work closely with internal and external teams, including Contact Centre, Marketing and Technology, to deliver projects that support our customers and business.

• Develop your knowledge of credit risk, data and lending strategy, understanding both the commercial and regulatory aspects of our credit activity.

• Produce regular reporting and carry out ad hoc analysis, identifying trends and turning data into clear insights and practical solutions.

• Use complex analysis and multiple data sources to identify risks and opportunities within our existing processes, rules and strategies.

• Help investigate and solve complex business problems, challenging existing ways of working and contributing ideas for improvement.

• Communicate your findings clearly to stakeholders, ensuring they understand what really matters and where action may be needed.

• Experience working in an analyst role, ideally within consumer lending, financial services or another data-driven environment.

• A highly analytical and numerate approach, with a natural curiosity and enthusiasm for solving problems.

• Strong Excel and SQL skills, with experience using data to investigate issues and answer business questions.

• An eye for detail and a desire to understand complex business logic and how it can be improved.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis clearly to a range of stakeholders.

• The ability to work collaboratively with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and deliver at pace.

• Experience with Databricks, Python or Power BI would be a bonus, but isn’t essential.
