Every young person deserves someone who believes in them.
At Thrive Education Group, we know that some of the most valuable people in schools aren't always teachers. They're the adults who build trust, provide consistency, help young people regulate their emotions and encourage them to believe they can succeed.
We're looking for passionate Youth Workers to join welcoming schools across Liverpool, supporting children and young people who benefit from additional guidance, structure and encouragement throughout the school day.
Whether your experience comes from youth clubs, mentoring programmes, residential care, sports coaching, community projects or alternative provision, your ability to build positive relationships could make a lasting difference in a school setting.
The Role
As a Youth Worker within school, you'll work alongside teachers and SEND professionals to support pupils who may have social, emotional or behavioural needs, helping them engage with learning and develop the confidence to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
No two days are the same. One moment you might be helping a pupil return successfully to class after becoming overwhelmed, while the next you're celebrating a breakthrough in confidence, communication or learning.
Your role will include:
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils through patience, consistency and encouragement
- Supporting children individually and in small groups throughout the school day
- Helping pupils regulate emotions, develop resilience and improve social skills
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement with learning
- Working collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams to implement personalised support strategies
- Encouraging independence, confidence and self-esteem through positive reinforcement
- Supporting pupils during lessons, breaktimes and enrichment activities where required
- Contributing to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people in youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care, community projects or similar settings
- Builds rapport easily and communicates with empathy and confidence
- Remains calm under pressure and responds positively to challenging situations
- Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries and positive behaviour support
- Is reliable, adaptable and enjoys working as part of a team
- Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential
Why work with Thrive Education Group?
At Thrive, we recognise the incredible transferable skills Youth Workers bring into education. We'll support you throughout your journey into the classroom, providing guidance, ongoing training and opportunities to develop your career within schools.
Whether you're looking to gain school experience, explore a long-term career in education or simply want a role where you can make a genuine difference every day, we'd love to hear from you.
