At Ground Control, we're looking for an experienced Arboricultural Surveyor to join our growing Arboriculture team, supporting a wide range of infrastructure, utility, development and environmental projects across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a field-based role, and has a genuine passion for trees and the environment. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality surveys and inspections that help inform planning, development and long-term asset management decisions.

Working alongside experienced Arboricultural Consultants and environmental specialists, you'll gain exposure to a varied portfolio of projects while having the autonomy to manage your own workload and make a genuine contribution from day one.

What you'll do:
  • Undertake BS5837:2012 tree surveys to support planning, development and construction projects across a range of sectors.

  • Carry out Visual Tree Assessments (VTA) and tree condition surveys , identifying defects, physiological condition and management requirements.

  • Collect and record accurate tree data using digital surveying equipment and specialist software.

  • Identify tree species and assess site constraints , providing detailed and reliable survey information.

  • Carry out measurements and assessments , including tree height, stem diameter, crown spread and rooting constraints.

  • Support advanced tree investigations and decay detection surveys where required.

  • Assist with tree protection monitoring and site inspections throughout construction and project delivery phases.

  • Work collaboratively with consultants, project teams, contractors and clients , ensuring survey information is delivered accurately and professionally.

  • Contribute to a variety of exciting projects , ranging from infrastructure and utility works to environmental improvements, biodiversity enhancement and development schemes.

  • Maintain exceptional standards of health and safety, quality and professionalism across all surveying activities.

What we're looking for:
  • Previous experience undertaking arboricultural surveys and inspections

  • Good working knowledge of BS5837:2012 surveys and tree assessment principles

  • Strong tree identification skills and an understanding of common defects, diseases and disorders

  • Experience using digital survey systems and specialist surveying software

  • A qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry or a related discipline (Level 3, Level 4 or above desirable)

  • LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection qualification (desirable)

  • CSCS and/or ROLO certification (desirable)

  • A good understanding of health and safety requirements when working on active sites

  • A full UK driving licence

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate survey information

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to work independently in the field
