Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

£95–£110 per day | North Somerset | September 2026 | Weekly PAYE

Locations: Nailsea, Yatton, Portishead, Clevedon & surrounding areas

Make a difference where it matters.

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who wants to make a genuine difference to children with Special Educational Needs?

Connex Education is looking for Primary SEN Teaching Assistants to work across welcoming primary schools throughout North Somerset, including Nailsea, Yatton, Portishead and Clevedon, from September 2026.

Whether you’re an experienced SEN TA or looking to build your experience in education, we can help you find a role that fits your skills, experience and availability. You’ll support children to overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop their independence — and you’ll get to see the difference your support makes every day.

Why work with Connex?

  • £93–£110 per day, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella companies
  • Flexible day-to-day, short-term and long-term opportunities
  • Local opportunities across North Somerset
  • Schools in Nailsea, Yatton, Portishead, Clevedon and surrounding areas
  • A dedicated education consultant supporting you throughout your placement
  • Free SEND Toolkit to develop your knowledge and confidence
  • Funded qualifications, including Level 2 SEND, Level 3 Teaching & Learning, Level 4 HLTA and Level 5 TEFL
  • Career progression through our Care to Classroom conversion course
  • Wellbeing support and refresher training
  • £200 referral bonus for every TA or Teacher you successfully refer who joins us
  • GCA Approved Supplier

You don’t need to be an SEN expert. If you’re patient, reliable, caring and passionate about helping children, we’d love to hear from you.

Experience working with SEN is desirable, but not essential. We welcome candidates with experience in:

  • Schools and education
  • Childcare and early years
  • Youth work
  • Care and support work
  • Learning support
  • Community or family support

What matters most is your ability to build positive relationships with children, remain calm and adapt your approach to their individual needs.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and participate in lessons
  • Supporting children with autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, learning difficulties and social & emotional needs
  • Helping children develop confidence, independence and positive behaviour
  • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Adapting activities and learning tasks to suit individual pupils
  • Supporting pupils to work towards their individual targets and EHCP outcomes
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other school staff
  • Providing personal care where required, following appropriate training and school guidance
  • Helping create a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, caring and resilient
  • Passionate about working with children
  • Interested in supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Calm and consistent
  • Confident building positive relationships
  • Able to adapt their approach to individual children
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and willing to learn

You’ll also need:

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Flexible work that fits around you

Whether you’re looking for a few days of supply work, a short-term placement or something longer term, we have opportunities to suit different levels of experience and availability.

Our dedicated education consultants will work with you to find the right school and role — while supporting you throughout your placement.
