Consultant Dermatology (Paediatrics & Skin Cancer)

Job summary
This is a substantive consultant appointment to work in Dermatology for the paediatric and skin cancer waiting lists.

The post is for 10 PAS at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Consultants may be asked to work at other sites.This post is based at the NNUHFT and may include satellite hospitals e.g. Cromer Hospital.

The NNUH Dermatology team includes 17 substantive consultants, 3 nurse consultants and 3 locum consultants.

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job

The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.

All consultants, including the appointee, are expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality improvement, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.

The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.

Qualifications
Essential

• Full GMC Registration, MRCP (or FRCS plastics) or equivalent
• MBBS or equivalent
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via; o CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) o Portfolio pathway/ CESR completed

Desirable

• PhD or MD

• Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
• Dermatology secondary care experience at level of consultant in UK.
• Training and expertise in children's safeguarding
• Expertise in skin cancer management.
• Expertise in dermatology paediatric management.

• Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest

Circumstances

• Flexible outlook on working hours.
• Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time.
• Ability to travel across multiple sites whilst public transport may not be available.

• Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries
