Year 5 Teacher - Norwich

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Norwich, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys Upper Key Stage 2 and wants to deliver engaging lessons that challenge and support pupils across the curriculum.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos, valuing collaboration, high expectations, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work together to provide consistent teaching and support, while leadership is approachable and supportive, offering mentoring and professional development opportunities.

The Role

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the curriculum, fostering independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours. You will prepare pupils for their transition into Year 6 and ensure they are confident, motivated, and ready for future learning.

You will work closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 2 colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain high standards and ensure a consistent, engaging learning experience. Strong communication with parents and carers is also essential to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Year 5 curriculum

  • Track pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs

  • Differentiate learning for all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5

  • Be confident delivering literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team

Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will receive mentoring and structured support.
