Theatre Support Assistant, EMPCC | University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

We are looking for Theatre Support Assistants to join our team working across Theatres and Post Op Recovery in our brand new East Midlands Planned Care Centre.

The East Midlands Planned Care Centre will see a high volume of patient's per day. It will be a fast paced environment and will require a highly motivated, adaptable candidate. They will need to have a pro active approach to their daily tasks

Previous Theatre experience would be desirable with this role although not essential, a current care certificate isessential, and knowledge around the role and responsibilities would be beneficial. Training will be provided to ensure patient safety and knowledge of different specialties.

For applicants wishing to develop themselves, education and training courses are available; with no financial costs to applicants who meet the desired criteria. These courses enable you to develop your knowledge and skills, to perform more complicated tasks within theatres and allow you to progress in your career.

Applicants MUST already have the right to work in the UK at the time of starting their employment with a minimum of 12 months remaining on their visa's. You must have a minimum of 2 years experience working as a NHS Band 3/equivalent level.

The post holder will support registered Theatre Practitioners within the peri-operative environments performing duties within theatres/recovery, assisting with patient care.

The Senior Theatre Support Worker is a technical role that assumes a number of responsibilities such as, but not limited to: ensuring theatres and equipment/devices/sets are clean and ready for patient surgeries, assisting with safe and correct placement of patients pre/post-surgery, circulating within theatres during surgery and also responsibility for providing personal and clinical care where necessary.

Inputting data into electronic care plans including recording of implant details for traceability, carrying out surgical swab counts with the scrub nurse. Undertaking clinical observations and other interventions as delegated by registered practitioners.

Successful candidates will be delivering all aspects of peri-operative care. Candidate will be multi-skilled and rotate between specialties and areas within the department. Applicants must be committed to delivering high quality patient care, focusing on safety & patient experience, whilstrecognising own limitations, and working within the scope of their role at all times.

Theatres

Theatres work long days, 08:00 till 20:00, Monday-Saturday and specialties include General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology & ENT.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:


Evidence of a Care Certificate OR equivalent experience is essential for this role and candidate must hold a Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English certificate or education equivalent. Documentation required on Interview and application.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK at the time of starting their employment with a minimum of 12 months remaining on their visa, or to be eligible for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa have worked as a Senior Health Care Support Worker (NHS Band 3 or equivalent experience) for 2 years or more.



• Promote and practice the highest standards of the prevention and control of Infection at all times.
• Move and handle patients and goods in ways that promote the health of the patient, healthcare team and self and are consistent with legislation.
• Assist with the collection of simple data for audit/research and other purposes as delegated by the Registered Nurse/Health Care Professional/Multi Disciplinary Team.
