Full-time

About Newham College:

Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

With over 800 staff, four main campuses, and an annual turnover of £60 million, Newham College is one of the borough’s largest employers and plays a key role in driving local economic and community development.

The Role

Newham College is looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Admissions Officer to join our dynamic Admissions team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced educational environment, supporting prospective students throughout their journey into education.

The postholder will undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the day-to-day operations of the College’s admissions service, ensuring processes are responsive, efficient, and aligned with internal policies and external regulations. The role is crucial in delivering a professional, customer-focused experience from initial enquiry through to enrolment.

Key responsibilities;

  • Administer admissions processes for all College programmes, including Further Education (FE), Higher Education (HE), apprenticeships, and adult learning.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of applications in accordance with College admissions policies and funding regulations.

  • Participate in team briefings and contribute to the monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs); liaise regularly with the Admissions Manager on workflow and operational trends.

  • Provide prompt and professional responses to enquiries about courses and admissions procedures, maintaining a high standard of customer service.

  • Deliver high-quality information, advice and guidance to prospective and current students, as well as parents.

  • Assist with applicant interviews and enrolment activities; collect and input student data accurately into College systems.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

  • Experience in an administrative role, ideally within an educational setting.

  • Level 2 Maths & English

  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of admissions or student services processes is desirable.
