Job Description

he PTLS will provide technical oversight and manufacturing support to fabrication suppliers, ensuring that fabrication, welding, inspection and testing activities are performed in accordance with engineering requirements, quality standards and project objectives.

The successful candidate will act as the technical interface between engineering, quality, project teams and suppliers, driving manufacturing excellence and resolving production challenges throughout the fabrication lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication & Manufacturing Support

• Provide technical support to fabrication suppliers throughout manufacturing activities.
• Review and interpret fabrication drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation.
• Support the resolution of production and fabrication issues.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company, customer and industry requirements.
• Participate in manufacturing readiness reviews and technical assessments.

Welding Engineering & Oversight

• Provide guidance on welding processes and fabrication techniques.
• Review and assess Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder

  Qualifications

• Advise suppliers on welding best practices and process improvements.
• Support root cause investigations relating to weld defects and non-conformances.
• Ensure compliance with applicable welding codes and standards.

Inspection & Testing

• Support inspection and test planning activities.
• Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Liaise with Quality teams regarding NDT requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support investigations and corrective actions for quality issues.
• Ensure inspection and testing activities meet contractual and technical requirements.

Supplier Management

• Act as the technical focal point for fabrication suppliers.
• Conduct supplier technical reviews and audits when required.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support supplier development initiatives and knowledge sharing.

Technical Problem Solving

• Analyse manufacturing issues and develop practical solutions.
• Conduct root cause analysis for technical and quality concerns.
• Provide technical recommendations based on engineering principles and manufacturing best practice.
• Present technical findings and improvement proposals to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Significant experience in fabrication and welding within heavy engineering, defence, nuclear, energy, oil & gas or similar regulated industries.
• Experience supporting fabrication suppliers or manufacturing subcontractors.
• Proven involvement in inspection and testing activities.
• Experience reviewing technical manufacturing documentation.
• Strong background in resolving fabrication and welding-related issues.#

Excellent understanding of:

• Fabrication processes
• Welding processes (MIG, MAG, TIG, FCAW, SAW and MMA as applicable)
• Welding metallurgy and material behaviour
• Inspection and testing methodologies
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
• Manufacturing quality requirements
• Engineering drawings and GD&T interpretation

Required

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering , or  equivalent   military experience .

• Welding qualification, CSWIP certification or equivalent highly desirable.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience within regulated industries.
• Knowledge of international fabrication and welding standards.
• Supplier quality management experience.
• Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing knowledge.
