Job summary
A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with managerial responsibility for nursing service delivery and advice across a number of departments within a speciality. Working as Nursing lead for the triumvirate group management structure, demonstrating and developing collaborative working within and across the MDT. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Medicine senior nursing group- as the Acute Medicine Matron. This is a 3-month secondment, with the possibility of extension to up to 6 months. As part of a wider reshuffle of the Matrons' areas of responsibility across the group, this opportunity has been created to ensure focused leadership and effective delivery across key clinical areas. You will lead the team with oversight of the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), Acute Medical Short Stay (AMSS), Acute Frailty Unit (AFU), and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services. You will work alongside a strong team of Matrons, collaborating across the Emergency Department, Children's Emergency Department, and three Urgent Treatment Centres to provide cohesive leadership across the group. The successful candidate will lead with positivity and compassion always striving for excellence- having the optimum patient experience as their vision. Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of leadership and management in an Acute Medicine inpatient setting and holds high standards of care. They will be experienced in working within a multi-disciplinary team collaboratively to deliver the best care for a patient. They will be able to challenge appropriately to ensure high standards and respond effectively when improvement is required. The role can be demanding, fast paced and dynamic. There is a strong supportive team that you would work alongside and support. Our Emergency Medicine Clinical Group hosts our Emergency Departments, which are among the busiest and most innovative in the country. We have dedicated adult and children's emergency departments who treat between 600 and 800 patients per day. We have 3 designated UTC's and we are a designated receiving Major Trauma Centre for Northampton, Kettering, Warwick and George Eliot Hospitals. The Acute Medicine Department provides a consultant led team for acutely ill medical patients presenting through a single point of access in our Emergency Department. The Acute Medical Village, SDEC's, and short stay wards are closely integrated within the Group. About us

Able to make informed decisions within their own specialty and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met. The keys focus is on quality improvements in safety, effectiveness and patient experience. Corporate responsibilities including support for other colleagues and specialities and hospital bleep rota duties. Responsible for delivering the goals of the Matrons Handbook taking a proactive as well as reactive stance on cleaning standards and infection control. This may include Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training, and the Human Factors Programme, amongst others. Full attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a pre requisite for this post. The Matrons role focuses on the 10 key responsibilities outlined in the Matrons Handbook (2019)
