Learning Support Assistants (KS1/KS2)

Freshsteps Independent School is looking to recruit dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our exceptional team, working across Key Stages 1 to 4. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people with SEMH and SEND needs in a small, supportive and OFSTED-rated Outstanding school.
About Freshsteps
Freshsteps Independent School caters for pupils aged 5–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With three consecutive Outstanding ratings from OFSTED (2017, 2020, 2024), our school prides itself on providing a nurturing and structured environment where students flourish through personalised support and creative learning approaches.
Our facilities include a new sixth form hub, library, therapeutic indoor soft-play, gym, sports arena, and specialist learning spaces.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assi stant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. You will work alongside classroom teachers to assist in delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons in a highly supportive setting.
Key Stages: KS1, KS2,
Class Sizes: Maximum of 6- 8 pupils
Start Date: Immediate
Environment: Nurturing, therapeutic, calm and structured
Support: Work alongside experienced teachers and therapists
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND
Is calm, resilient and nurturing in approach
Can work confidently with challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
Works well as part of a team and follows direction
Is enthusiastic, flexible and committed to making a difference
Has good communication and interpersonal skills
Can assist with both classroom-based learning and emotional support
Understands the importance of safeguarding in education
Prior experience in a school, PRU or alternative provision
Desirable (But Not Essential):
Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or similar)
