Business Teaching Role in an Independent Sixth Form

An independent sixth form in Oxford is seeking to appoint a Business Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a post-16 setting that focuses on academic achievement, university preparation, and independent learning.

Business is a popular subject within the sixth form, with students studying a broad curriculum covering marketing, finance, operations, and strategic decision-making.

About the Role

You will teach Business Studies at Key Stage 5, delivering lessons that develop students’ analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and understanding of real-world business practices.

Students will be prepared for A-Level Business examinations through structured teaching, case study analysis, and extended written work.

You will support learners in developing independent study skills and preparing for progression into higher education and business-related careers.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach A-Level Business to KS5 students

• Deliver lessons covering core business concepts and theory

• Prepare students for A-Level Business examinations

• Assess student work and provide detailed feedback

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

• Support independent learning and academic development

• Contribute to departmental planning and shared resources

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification

• Experience teaching Business Studies

• Ability to teach A-Level Business

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• Ability to support independent learning

Desirable

• Experience teaching related subjects such as Economics

• Experience preparing students for A-Level examinations

• Experience working in a sixth form or post-16 environment
