Job Title: Subject Advisor - Computing
Salary: £45,100 – £60,400 per annum
Location: Cambridge / Coventry – Hybrid working
Contract: Fixed term – 12 months from start date
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Are you an experienced Computing teacher looking for an opportunity to use your subject expertise to support teachers, learners and the future development of Computing qualifications?
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
As a Cambridge OCR Subject Advisor for Computing, you will provide in-house expertise across a portfolio of general and vocational Computing qualifications. You will bring a strong understanding of qualification delivery, teachers' needs and the current education landscape, helping us maintain and develop high-quality qualifications and support.
About the role
Cambridge OCR is a leading UK exam board, dedicated to recognising achievement in learners of all ages and backgrounds. In this role, you will provide specialist Computing expertise, support schools and teachers, and contribute to the maintenance and redevelopment of qualifications.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Providing high-quality, knowledgeable customer service and supporting schools and teachers to deliver our qualifications.
- Providing subject input into the maintenance of current qualifications and the redevelopment of future qualifications.
- Supporting the growth of Cambridge OCR through insight, partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
- Quality assuring subject content developed by external experts to support our specifications and assessments.
- Building relationships with customers, supporting retention activity and advocating for the Computing subject community across the organisation.
- Delivering projects effectively and on time.
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40–60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.
About You
You will have recent teaching experience of general and/or vocational Computing qualifications within a secondary school, college or other educational setting. You will bring excellent Computing subject expertise, a strong understanding of qualification delivery and assessment, and the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with a range of stakeholders. You will also be confident building effective partnerships and relationships and delivering projects on time.
If you meet the above minimum requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
- Teaching experience of Cambridge OCR general and/or vocational Computing qualifications.
- Experience as a Head of Department or holding a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) within a school.
